Classic to Lightning Journey Part-2

In the previous blog, we have talked about browser related concern and comparative study of gaps available in lightning as compared to classic.

Here, I will highlight a few of the gaps or differences which I have found during my journey. Of course, there is a way to bring it or match it in Lightning too:-

  1. Sharing button is not available in Lightning
  2. Thanks and Badges functionality are missing
  3. Send Email to the Owner while converting a lead
  4. Side Bar component
  5. Recycle Bin
  6. Related list on Opportunity like campaign influence
  7. Reports, summary for reports and tools option on a list view
  8. Idea object
  9. Documents
  10. Library and tags
  11. Reports and Dashboard
  12. Chatter functionality like tags and chatter message
  13. filter options while adding the campaign member
  14. Sort button is missing under OpportunityLineItem related list on Opportunity
  15. And many more…

Here you will learn about Salesforce features that aren’t available in the new interface or that have gaps from what you’re used to in Salesforce Classic. If your users need features that aren’t in Lightning Experience, they can switch to Salesforce Classic and keep working.

Along with it, Compare Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic which helps Understanding what you get in the new interface can help with your decision to switch to Lightning Experience. salesforce listed some highlights of how Lightning Experience compares with what you’re used to in Salesforce Classic. Highlights include features that are available in the new interface only. Example:-

Note:- If you come to any gap in Lightning experience, the first thing you need to do is have a check with the release notes. Also, check if it is in Salesforce roadmap for Lightning Experience.

Lightning Experience was built on feedback from more than 150,000 customers. Salesforce is collecting your ideas, comments, and requests to help drive Lightning Experience forward. Here are some features and ideas Salesforce is working on.

Now the time has come to run the readiness report for Lightning Experience.

Who Can Run the Lightning Experience Readiness Check?   This will help you to identify and Learn which environments support the Lightning Experience Readiness Check. It tells-  1. Availability of check and reports   2. Availability of products and effort estimates

What Does the Lightning Experience Readiness Check Evaluate?  This helps to learn which features and customizations the Readiness Check evaluates, and what kinds of predictions it makes. You can use these details to make calls about how to proceed with your Lightning Experience rollout. Readiness Check has access only to the metadata in your implementation. That means that Salesforce only evaluates supporting data; not the data within your records or other content you add to Salesforce.

How Does the Lightning Experience Readiness Check Count User Impact?  For some of your features, the Readiness Report provides details on how many users are working with the feature in Salesforce Classic, and how often. The Readiness Check bases count on different types of data or metadata, depending on what’s available for each feature.

Kick Off the Lightning Experience Readiness Check

To evaluate whether some of the key features and customizations you’ve implemented are ready for Lightning Experience, kick off the Readiness Check.

What permission user needs to perform the Readiness check?

Customize Application And Modify All Data

How to get the emails with your Readiness Report?

Email Deliverability set to the access level All email And On the user profile, API Enabled

Can I get my report in other languages than English?

The Readiness Check and the Readiness Report are available in English only.

How to perform a Readiness check?

There are two ways to do it.

Approach 1

  1. From Setup in Salesforce Classic, click Get Started in the Lightning Experience Transition Assistant tile at the top of the menu (1). From Setup in Lightning Experience, enter Lightning in the Quick Find box, then select Lightning Experience Transition Assistant.
  2. Select the Discover phase (2).
  3. Click Evaluate Lightning Experience Benefits and Readiness to expand the stage (3).
  4. Click Check Readiness next to Check your Lightning Experience readiness (4).

After you kick off the Readiness Check, Salesforce generates a PDF Readiness Report and emails it to you. Salesforce also saves the report to Salesforce Files. Review your reports to learn about the modifications you may need to make to get ready for Lightning Experience.

Install SalesforceA mobile app and login with salesforce. Click on resources and then on Readiness check and check it. In the next blog, I will write what actions you need to take once you have the report.
